Dustin Michael Reed

A short introduction from Dustin

I turned 40 years old in 2021.  In the last few years I have gone from "Wow it would be sooooo cool to make a movie some day... BUCKET LIST!!!", to having my Bachelor's Degree in Filmmaking from The Los Angeles Film School.  I've worked on many films these last few years, I've learned a lot from school and my peers.  I'm grateful to be able to use my midlife crisis for something good like Filmmaking.  Watch for updates and new projects both by myself and others I'm working with.

You can find him just about anywhere on social media under the screen name TheBestDusty

Get to Know Me

Hi, I'm Dustin.  I'm a professional filmmaker... which means I write, produce, direct, edit, and act in films.  I grew up in rural Indiana before moving to Indianapolis Indiana (not quite as rural) as a teenager.  I made the mistake of "holding off" on college after high school to work and try to save money.  It turns out I wasn't very good at saving money and life took over before I had the opportunity to take another look at college.  When I did I was a small business owner looking to get a business degree.  I was told repeatedly that a business degree was for people looking to get where I was... That it was a waste of time for me to pursue one.  After my divorce in 2016, I decided that I wanted a degree anyway... but if a business degree was pointless, I'll just go for something crazy.
I narrowed it down to Marine Biology or Filmmaking... and since filmmaking in central Indiana is slightly more prominent than Marine Biology... I did a google search, looked at some reviews, and called up the Los Angeles Film School to inquire about their online program.  This was right at 3 years ago today, and a week later I started my first class at LAFS.  Today, I'm still me, but I'm a new me.  And I like it.  I love filmmaking and creating things as well as continuing to learn all there is to learn in this industry.
